Release agents for stamped concrete

Both Liquid and Powder Release Agents are used in the stamped impression concrete process to release the stamping mould from the concrete surface, as well as providing a secondary colour or tone.

A stronger secondary colour effect can be achieved by spraying further Liquid Release Agent over the surface after stamping. This can also be done after the concrete is hardened, but before sealing.

Pigmented powdered or liquid release agents actually play two roles on a stamped concrete project: They act as bond breakers to prevent stamping mats and skins from sticking to the concrete and disturbing the imprint texture, and they impart subtle colour to the concrete that enhances the integral or dry-shake colour, resulting in an antiquing or 2 tone effect.
